- My grandfather was nicknamed Frugie (for frugal). My grandmother's depression days defined her housekeeping. My practical mother made do without a lot of money - and taught us the difference between NEED and WANT and hates anything with too many parts to wash. My Dad is paranoid about integrated electronics because "what if only one function breaks?"

Hey, my Mom had some of those drip pans... they're traditional. The hole in the center allows for ...? heat something-something? Anyway, Mom had one, so you can't mock them.
The real question is why they aren't an integral part of the pie pan.
